About OEDDO

The Orphans, Elderly, Disabled and Development Organization was formed in 2003 by Leng San, a former refugee to the US, and her niece Vanna San, a survivor of the Khmer Rouge, with the desire to help support some of the many children they saw living alone in the area. They began by opening the Center (orphanage), but quickly expanded their mission as more needs became apparent. Projects included building a school, hosting English classes for community members, and providing transportation to medical appointments for HIV+ individuals.

Though Leng is now retired, the San Family continues to be incredibly involved in OEDDO to this day. While Vanna continues to be "Mom" to all children that come to the center, her oldest son, Kim Hieng Try (Hieng) serves as the co-director of OEDDO, managing the administrative part of OEDDO's work at the Center and for other projects. Vanna's daughter Muoy is a pediatrician and will serve as the hospital director when building is complete.

Twenty years later, the mission of and services provided by OEDDO continue to expand, as the area surrounding the Center is incredibly poor and new needs are constantly being identified. OEDDO tries to respond to all requests for help, even if they fall outside of existing programs.
